It is that time of year to start thinking about our community fundraiser, the Run/Row/Erg 5k on Saturday, September 14th.
The goal is to raise $25,000 over the fall season to purchase a new trailer. Our current trailer has seen a lot of use over the years, and it is time to look toward the future. The new trailer has new innovative features like a wider, extended bed that provides 4 feet of extra space for easier and safer loading and unloading.
The new trailer will cost around $50,000. I am asking the Rowing Community to raise half the funds, and if we succeed, we will use Regatta Proceeds for the other half. In perspective, we paid around $15,000 for the current trailer in 2010.
To make this task more manageable and fun, we will be splitting the Community up into the following groups:
Rec/Scullers/Community
Youth Girls
Youth Boys
Women’s Racing Team
Men’s Racing Team
Each group will aim to raise just $5,000 and together, we will reach out goal.
Are there more incentives that a new trailer? YES!
There will be a cash prize for the top youth and top adult who raise the most funds.
There will be a prize for each member of the Team that raises the most funds. It will be a unique, one-of-a-kind item that no one else can get.
There will be cash prizes for the top 3 overall finishers for the run itself.
I recognize that this is a big ask. The most we have ever raised from this event is around $15,000 however there was no tangible item attached at that time. I believe that together, we can make this happen. We have come together in the past, most recently the Boys in the Boat Fundraiser that benefited the Dock Campaign. (updates on that forthcoming!) I know we can reach this goal if we all work together, just like we do out on the water.
