What is HIE? Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy; lack of oxygen, restricted blood flow, affecting the brain. Impacts neonatal children in utero, during birth, or shortly after. HIE happens in 2-3 per 1000 births in high income countries, and 10-20 per 1,000 births in middle/ low income countries. Outcomes have a wide range of impact levels from minimal to loss of life and everything in between. Sadly this is the second leading cause of infant mortality. Many children need therapeutic interventions. Many people never hear about this until it happens to them. Help us support families by donating and spreading awareness for HIE. THANK YOU!
