The Decatur Running Club (DRC) is a community organization with the mission of promoting fitness and running in the Decatur area. In addition, we have an interest in seeing our youth come back and be a part of the development and encouragement of future runners here in Central Illinois. With this in mind the DRC has deciding to award up to three scholarships each year of $250.00 each to graduating high school students in Macon County.
Please have the application and all other required documents back to the DRC by the Second Monday of June. One may mail the resume and essay to the post office box or email to the DRC President. Addresses are located at the top of the application form.
1. Must be a graduating senior of a Macon County High School
2. A typed 500 word essay on how running has been a part of you high school life is required. Mention how many seasons you participated or how many Decatur Striders or other clubs you have joined.
3. State future plans after graduating.
4. DRC family or individual member will get priority.
5. Give class rank and other educational honors.
6. A letter of recommendation form a teacher, coach, minister, or administrator would be helpful but not required.
If only one student applies, then that student will receive $500.00 in scholarships. Up to three scholarships will be given to the most deserving student/athlete who participated in a running program. Decision on the winners should be based on talent and athletic awards with educational awards.
