Run Course

Run #1:  Starting on the perimeter of the beach parking lot, runners will do a simple out and back.  Upon returning to the parking lot, runners will keep right, following the perimeter of the parking lot in a counter-clockwise direction and enter the transition area to the bikes.

Run #2:  After racking the bike, runners will will exit transition and run the same out & back course.  Again, runners will follow the perimeter of the parking lot to the finish line.

Bike Course

The bike course is 2 loops

You will bike toward the park entrance (the same way you drive in).

You will only come to 1 stop sign at which you will turn LEFT.

As you approach the main entrance, you will not bike around the gatehouse--you will turn at the cut-through prior to reaching the gatehouse.

Bike Course Contd.

As you finish lap 1 on the bike, you will not bike around the perimeter of the parking lot, you will do a turnaround at the island at the entrance to the parking lot.

This will reduce the chances of bike / vehicle interaction in the parking area.

You will then head out for lap 2.

As you finish lap 2 on the bike, you will follow the perimeter of the parking lot to the transition area and rack your bike.

Parking lot turnaround pictured below:

Transition Area

Each leg of the race will flow counter-clockwise around the perimeter of the parking lot, with the exception of the end of the 1st bike loop -- where you will do a u-turn around a concrete island to start the 2nd bike loop.  This will be safer than racing through the parking area. After you complete the 2nd bike loop, you will follow the perimeter of the parking lot, at a safe speed, to the transition area to start your 2nd run.

Packet Pick Up

Park opens at 8:00AM--Bring $5 CASH to enter the park quickly.

History

The Super Bowl Du was first organized by local triathlete Kevin Grogan in 2012.  Since the 2014 event, Josh Castleman has been helping Kevin keep the race going with help from TEAM S4 & Clermont Triathlon Club.

In earlier years it was a free "training race" but the increased participation has led to the need for the liability coverage that comes with a sanctioned race.

Thank you to Sommer Sports for helping us make this an official USAT event with chip timing.
