Challenger Division
Healthy Kids Running Series is a cross country program that aims to provide an inclusive youth running experience for children of all abilities with the goal for children to lead an active and healthy lifestyle as well as to grow their self-esteem, self-confidence, and independence.
The Challenger Division is an adaptive 75 yard race for children with disabilities and/or special needs. This allows for parents, siblings, and friends to be on the course with runners to provide support as well as bringing their own supportive devices such as crutches, braces, wheelchairs, etc. to be used by runners.
This division is specifically for children with physical disabilities (e.g. muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, etc.), developmental disabilities (e.g. down syndrome, autism, etc.) and sensory impaired children (e.g. visually, hearing, etc.). Your child is welcome to participate in their age or grade appropriate race and receive the same support on the race course.
If you are not sure if this division is for your child or if you need specific accommodations for your child on race day, please reach out to your local Community Coordinator for more details and available support prior to registering.
