Description
Join us in a community paddle for charity! This is a pleasant paddle to benefit Camp Boggy Creek! The Tavares Kayakathon launches from 9AM-10AM on the shores of Lake Dora from beautiful Wooton park in Tavares, Florida and continues through the scenic Dora Canal onto Lake Eustis.
Participants enjoy paddling on the Harris Chain of Lakes, which is the largest chain of lakes in the state of Florida! There will be multiple stops on the water with local waterfront dine and drink specials. Annual event raffle and costume contest awards with live music! Continue your crawl through downtown Tavares with participating restaurants.
The total paddling distance is approximately three and half (3.5) miles.
All paddle craft are encouraged to attend! This includes kayaks, canoes, and stand-up paddle boards! Eco-friendly paddle craft decorations are encouraged! We will have prizes for costumes and the most creative paddle craft!

KAYAKATHON Paddle Route and Participating Restaurant/Bar Stops
Our paddle route is an OUT and BACK paddle - this simply means you will paddle back to the same place where you launch in Wooton Park, Tavares. The total distance is around 3.5 miles if you choose to paddle to the Fish Camp on Lake Eustis and return to Wooton Park. You can turn around at any point before then and make the route shorter, if you choose to do so.
There is no particular order to do the stops on the map. Our water stops will be the busiest. Thank you for being PATIENT with your servers as they accommodate large numbers at the waterfront stops this day. Remember we are all out to have a GREAT time on the water! We also encourage you to tip your servers as our local restaurants help support this wonderful event every year and we like to make good impressions so they will welcome us back :)

About the KAYAKATHON
Join Adventure Outdoor Paddle as we host the 10th anniversary of the Tavares Kayakathon!! This community paddle for charity supports our local businesses on the water and in the downtown waterfront area of Tavares. We appreciate all the support from our local businesses and sponsors that make this event possible! Join us in celebrating our beautiful waterfront seaplane city of Tavares!
Hotel for Event
The Lakeside Inn on Lake Dora is our official event hotel and is located in downtown Mount Dora (about 10-15 minute drive from event launch in downtown Tavares). Rooms for the event can be booked for Thursday, April 4, 2024 – Tuesday, April 9, 2024. You will need to book a 2-day stay for the discounted rate. Use promo code: PADDLE when booking within this window. Alternatively, you can call and mention you are participating in the Tavares Kayakathon for the group rate special.
