Moorestown Turkey Trot History
We started the Moorestown Turkey Trot in 2005 as a fundraiser. Lorenzo Eagles was the boys XC coach, John Denning was the girls coach and Bob Bickel was a volunteer assistant. We wanted to have our own XC course, but there were no trails. So we started the race as a fundraiser and began building the course with the sweat power of the teams, and the gravel and mulch we could buy from the fundraising.
The first year we had 100 people. In 2022 we had a record about 1,300 people come out.
As we built the Trot and the fundraising, we were able to replace the typical high school sports uniform program and actually award uniforms to the runners that they could keep. The money is still sued for trail maintenance as well as team equipment as well as some of the race entry and travel. The team thanks everyone for the amazing support you have shown over the years!
