We will be adhering to all health and safety standards in place at the time of the event including but not limited to: mandatory masks, social distancing, and limited spectator numbers.
Aquatic Invasive Species and MT Watercraft Regulations
Protect Montana Waters - Do your part to prevent the spread of Aquatic Invasive Species
Before launching ensure your watercraft is Clean, Drained and Dry.
CLEAN off visible aquatic plants, animals, and mud from watercraft, gear, paddles, floats, ropes, anchors, and trailer before leaving water access.
DRAIN water from watercraft, sponges, bailers, and water containing devices before leaving water access.
DRY everything when moving between waters to kill small species not easily seen OR wipe with a towel before reuse.
Bring Watercraft into Montana?
All watercraft entering Montana are required to be inspected for aquatic invasive species. You must obtain an inspection before launching on Montana waters. Stop at all open inspections stations you encounter when traveling. Find inspections stations here.
Non-resident watercraft launching in Montana must purchase a Vessel AIS Prevention Pass (AISPP). Purchase the Vessel AISPP at FWP regional offices or online here.
Motorized watercraft fee is $30. Required for all watercraft that have a motor.
Nonmotorized watercraft fee is $10. Required for all nonmotorized watercraft.
Proof of purchase can be electronic (cell phone) or paper receipt, there is no decal.
The Vessel AISPP expires on December 31.
The Vessel AISPP is not transferable between vessels.
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT
Racers will need to provide all necessary race equipment including masks, boats, paddles, PFDs, sunscreen, and personal water or snacks.
In accordance with state law, all participants are required to be wearing a Type I, II, or III personal flotation device (PFD) while in their boats.
Although not required, we also suggest that participants carry a safety whistle, and cell phone.
PRE-RACE MEETING
All racers will be required to check in the morning of the race in order to pick up their race numbers, drop off their boats at the launching area, and listen to a brief safety announcement by the Race Director. More information will be provided as the event date approaches.
PARKING INFORMATION
A shuttle will be provided for those who selected the option during registration. The shuttle will bring participants and their boats back to the fairgrounds to retrieve their vehicles.
For those participants providing their own shuttles, additional information will be sent out as race day approaches.We ask that racers minimize time spent in Wood Bottom after the race in order to reduce congestion and impacts on the landscape.
SPECTATOR INFORMATION
Spectators can follow participants progress from the historic footbridge, river trail, or anywhere along Front Street in historic downtown Fort Benton.
Spectators we ask that they view the race from the historic footbridge or the levee trail at the starting line, and minimize time spent at the finish line at Wood Bottom to reduce traffic and impacts on the landscape.
